Chief Deity Fude
Born on the 2nd Day of the 2nd Month of the Traditional Calendar Commonly known as the “Earth Lord”, the Deity had a surname Zhang and a name Fude, and was born in the 2nd year of the Zhou dynasty King Wu (1134 BC). He once acted as the chief tax inspector of the court, and took to his task with great sobriety and treated the people like his own children. Fude died on his 102nd year, the color of his face unchanged for three days after his death. The Heavenly Matriarch ordered the Eight Deities to lead him to the Heavens and honored him with the title “Earth Deity of the Southern Celestial Gates”. Lord Fude is seated amongst the Seven Holy Pavilions as revealed by Divinatory Rites. |
